THE SWRP MODEL
The
Student Watershed Research Project works with the cooperation of local
scientists and the participation of Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area
schools. The Project is fundamentally based on water quality research and
watershed health analysis. As citizen scientists, students learn to gather
and use scientific information in community decision-making. By enabling
them to become actively engaged in learning by doing, students add
valuable information to a regional watershed database and simultaneously
gain an increased awareness of the complex issues involved in
environmental stewardship.
