Abstract

An abstract is a brief summary of the results and conclusion of a scientific research study. The abstracts for STUDENT WATERSHED SUMMIT poster presentations will be published in the program for the benefit of agency and professional scientists, community members and other student researchers in attendance.

The abstracts are due to SWRP prior to the Summit so that they can be published. Before you write your abstract, you will need to give some thought to how you want to accomplish data analysis, interpretation and reporting for your poster. The information on Poster Presentations and on Research Presentation Format will be very helpful.

Abstracts for the STUDENT WATERSHED SUMMIT should contain these components:

  • Title (up to 30 words)
  • Name of School
  • Name of Teacher
  • Steam(s) Monitored
  • Summary (50 to 100 words)

A good way to figure out how an abstract should look is to check out some sample abstracts.  You can also see student abstracts from the most recent Summit.
