STUDENT WATERSHED SUMMIT
Background Abstract Poster Presentation Oral Presentation

Student Preparation

The STUDENT WATERSHED SUMMIT is the opportunity for students involved in SWRP to showcase the watershed monitoring research they conducted during the school year. Each student team is responsible for creating a poster presentation of their monitoring findings and making a 10-minute oral presentation of their research. The posters are displayed in a large exhibit hall, with students standing nearby to answer questions. The oral presentations are conducted in several concurrent sessions, with 6 schools presenting in each.

Dozens of agency and university scientists volunteer their time to hear student presentations and discuss their findings. These scientists evaluate each poster and oral presentation and provide extensive feedback to the students. Having practicing scientists provide students with constructive feedback on their presentations is one of the most valuable aspects of the Summit.

Each group attending SWRP's SUMMIT must prepare:

  • A free standing poster presentation
  • a 10-minute oral presentation
  • an abstract (or two)

The abstract(s) for your presentation must be submitted to SWRP at least 10 days prior to the Summit to meet publication deadlines. (Oral and poster presentations can be on the same topic - requires one abstract, or on different topics - requires one abstract for each presentation)
